Pros

Learn lots of new technology, if you get on the right team. Otherwise, you’ll just tread water watching others succeed. Fast growth which leads to opportunities for some.

Cons

Lots of Friday night and Saturday work in software development. Way more than I imagined when I started. They act like that’s a normal thing, but it’s not. Benefits are crazy expensive. Dress code seems very dated. They had started to relax for a while but have tightened down lately. I don’t need someone to micromanage my shoes and shirt tuck from an ivory tower. I’m an adult; treat me like one. Lots of new managers leads to lots of inconsistent enforcement and reviews. Some teams have lots of flexibility whereas others have little to none. If you get a bad or inexperienced manager, your promotion chances are slim. We also seem to be bleeding top tech talent, which is discouraging.

Pros

Great mileage- I get 2,400 to a little over 3,000 miles a week. Great 401k- Merrill Lynch up to 3% match .50 to a 1.00 Great Pay- low cpm .41 for rookies but they pay you for everything else (drops, live loads, detention, break down, rail delay etc). Decent Heath insurance- they actually give you different options (Kaiser, PPO. HDHC, Blue Cross Blue Shield) Very Productive- They always have freight, I stay moving. I make 1,200 on a week I didn't work the full week to 1800 where I ran hard and got detention pay. My typical run a full week checks are 1,400 - 1600. I started in January, i've worked here 15weeks and so far i've grossed 20,000. This is the best company i've worked for. Regional Drivers when planned correctly can get home very often way more than your 2 off days. The driver is more important than the load. No forced dispatch, no running off the clock. Cons

Dispatch Delay- you sit an hour or sometimes two waiting for them to send you a dispatch. You get paid to wait and it doesn't happen very often but it does happen. Night dispatch sucks!!! Their loads are way too heavy and it makes our jobs hard and frustrating. Smith System abs device is a great warning device bit shouldn't be a baby sitter for the driver. Drivers are people facing live situations, a computer can't determine how a driver should react. People have different reflexes, thoughts and reactions. You shouldn't be punished for a system put to protect you and the people around you. It should just be a reminder.

Cons

It can be a toxic work environment w/a office culture of immature adolescents, divided into groups. Not the team atmosphere i was told it was when i took the job. Managers "DEMANDING" respect when they themselves have none for their peers.
