I would like to address an ongoing concern regarding shop repairs and driver downtime. At some locations, trucks are being released without the necessary repairs completed, which results in repeated shop visits for the same issues. This not only affects productivity but also creates unnecessary frustration for drivers. Despite these repeated shop delays, dispatch and management are reducing — and in some cases making changes to downtime pay. Drivers rely on this compensation when our (Otr & Regional drivers), equipment is not road-ready. We are the ones operating the trucks daily, and we often know when something is wrong. However, some shops disregard driver input unless a code appears in the system. As a result, trucks are released with unresolved problems, causing drivers to return to the shop for the same issues while being denied proper pay. These changes go against the expectations and agreements drivers signed up for. This pattern is part of reason the company stand to lose, or may have loss experienced drivers. It gives the impression that driver concerns and best interests are not being valued. Drivers take pride in our work and want to operate safely and efficiently. Addressing repair issues properly and ensuring fair, consistent downtime pay will help rebuild trust and retain the dedicated drivers who keep this company moving.

I worked with some great people working cross-functionally with devs, designers, and researchers.

Cons

POs/PMs/BAs push for implementation in unreasonable time frames, insist on no iterative user testing, refuse best-fit testing requested by team just because they've never done it (they don't have to, that's what the designers and researchers are for). Top management lies and tells you what you want to hear while planning "attrition through voluntary severance" where the severance is a weeks pay for every year you've worked there. If you refuse to volunteer then they find something wrong with your work and criticize you in front of teammates even if there's nothing wrong with it, just so they can either push you into quitting or rack up enough dings that they can justify firing you. This is after they recalled all their remote employees back to the office - the vast majority of whom had been hired for remote positions! Managers are discriminatory and choose who gets promotions and advanced schooling based on how much they like you, not on merit.
