Pros

Employee discount, great PTO, decent pay for a retail job. Flexible scheduling for part time employees as well. No more on call shifts which is great.

Cons

There is no job security here and the company is eventually going to move to online only. They are just delaying the inevitable. Once their debt is due, they won’t be around. In the latest restructuring they just laid off their most retail employees, many people who have been around over 5 years to replace with cheaper labor and gave the employee no notice.

Pros

If your personal wardrobe and style is similar to the J.Crew style, I would definitely say the employee discount! They issue a “60s List” every week of items for employees ranging from 30% to 60% off retail price. I found that these items are usually slow selling items (unpopular) or items that are set to go on sale in the near future. The 60s list also has an index of “Exclusions” in which you cannot apply any form of discount. The standard employee discount is 30% off regular priced items, 50% off sale items, and every month, you receive an allotment card (up to a maximum of 6 items) for 50% off “wear to work” pieces that must follow company guidelines for dress code. Additionally, this discount applies to Madewell and J.Crew factory. Lastly, the company has employee contests now and then and it's easier to win free pieces if you have a smaller team. Lastly, this won't be true for everyone’s experience but another perk for me was being able to meet and work with such wonderful and kind people. My coworkers were always willing to work together as a team and make the store and atmosphere a pleasant place to be. I learned how to be extremely professional while working here and how to go above and beyond for the customers in order to make them happy.

Cons

Although we received an employee discount, there were many excluded items that we would have to purchase full price if we really wanted the item such as purses and shoes.
