      Best retailer to work for, if you choose to work retail

      Pros

      If you are going to work retail, please work here. The best retailer I have worked for, period. The company cares, and works to promote associates.

      Cons

      The cons would be the same for any retail management position: long weekends, annoying customers, and a lack of work/life balance.

      Pros

      Work life balance, great full time benefits and PTO. Discount. OT not required for managers during holiday season. Great West Coast Regional Director and Market Directors. Regional and Market Directors are approachable and supportive.

      Cons

      Company runs stores on minimum payroll making workload almost impossible to complete. Store designs are not functional work spaces to complete daily tasks. Safety, ADA and fire code regulations are not priority as stores aren't designed with adequate space to comply with basic regulations. Poor communications from headquarters to stores. Corporate has no consideration for what it takes to operate an efficient store.

      Regarding working at the corporate headquarters: very generous vacation time, nice company 401K match, summer Fridays, creative and talented people, industry -leader CEO

      Cons

      Retail sector is up and down so at times can be stressful if sales are not great. It can be hard to move up, or to move to another department.
