Ability to make a difference, have an impact, friendliness of coworkers and management. I also loved the location, and work life balance was very important to all.

Cons

Management challenges included communication to overall team, favored team members over others, slowness in promotion.

Pros

Teaching their employees they are absolutely the best! You are trained at the Flagship-which is like the boot camp store. If you leave J.Crew you will have enough knowledge to run your own company. There is a lot opportunities to grow with the company. Even opportunities for them to pay for your education. The discount is awesome but clients who are students or teachers have it better when items go on sale. Great quality clothing! Good teammates and majority of the team is 100% and understands it's a team effort!

Cons

Sorry, but if you're African-American like myself you will be surpassed by your counterpart for a couple more years. 770 rarely hires us, and I have had a manager who just got promoted to SD tell me I wouldn't make it to 770 because they simply do not hire us. If you are in a high LP awareness store and African-American you better check your stuff in. There's been two cases when they will publicly ask you if you bought these items. They will treat you worst then the actual croocks who come in. Mickey has asked to touch an associates hair and then asked if it were real! Low key discrimination is very much in this company. Although Mickey is very kind and speaks to everyone. (He is not a racist, just always unaware. He's actually one of my favorites) He just isn't aware of a lot of things, because nobody tells him the truth anymore! When he comes in everyone is ordered to take promo signs down. AGREE why can't we have Sale online only! When business is bad this is when the disrespect and spreading you completely thin begins. Managers will take plenty of pto days without anyone complaining but if you're sick or have a family emergency they will torture you! A lot belittling and speaking to you like a child goes on currently. However this wasn't the case about a year ago. The culture has changed! A lot of lying and faking it till you make it is going on.

Pros

From time to time you can pick up some great final sales clothing with staff discount.

Cons

J Crew has recently taken away commission from Sales Associates and has yet to offer any pay increase. Management states that the company has not performed as well as expected recently and has has to cut commission to from sales associates. This provides incentive to drive sales as an employee despite increasingly demanding sales goals. Also, scheduling is vary varied. During the winter hours are minimal and cannot be relied upon for regular income. Expect on call shifts where you have to call 2 hours before the shift to find out if they need you. This proves very difficult when trying to fit in other commitments with such uncertainty.
