brutal holiday workload and micromanagement

Pros

Occasionally you have nice, cooperative, and understanding customers. My immediate manager was great.

Cons

No benefits even as an assistant manager. Holidays are brutal and by the time they're over, you and the whole team are burnt out. Upper management will micromanage but then when they come to your studio for a visit they will stand back and watch you drown with customers, technical problems that are beyond your control, and over booking.

The customers are amazing. I love working with the kids

Cons

Nothing is ever good enough. You are not compensated for your experience. I worked as a manager for 7 years. I had to quit 3 times so I could at least make what the managers with no experience were making. It truly feels like upper management wants the company to fail.

Can put "photographer" on your resume.

Cons

You have to do everything, with little to no help. Your only help is calling essentially IT or the manager, if they're available. They micromanage to an extreme; you have to log everything you do for every hour. Everything is low quality and you have to sell, sell, sell! Every other customer is a Karen. Every one wants their session to be free, and they'll have a coupon for that. You get no benefits and get paid under a livable wage.
