A good first Job

Pros

Overall this is a great place to have as your first job. There's a lot of different departments to work in, and It taught me a lot of good social skills and how to interact with the public. My managers were very flexible with my full time college student schedule, and always gave me an opportunity to step up and have more responsibilities.

Cons

The biggest con I encountered as a sales associate was that the management I had let customers do what they want. They would hound us about rules and policy and tell us not to give anyone anything (discounts, coupons, etc), but then turn around and do it at the slightest problem, which made many regulars come to expect it as special treatment that caused further problems.

Pros

Good work life balance. Depending on what team you get placed on, the people are nice. Nice pay - but depending on your position, not always worth it. Decent benefits and PTO.

Cons

Too many people in leadership positions who have no expertise in their area of responsibility. Makes it very difficult for those who report to them. CEO seems to have no vision for where the company should be going. She has been here for a year and has delivered no turnaround strategy to the people who work for her. Marketing runs the company. Most other organizational areas get no say in critical business decisions. They try to make it seem like it's easy to move up. It's not. They want you to stay in one role for almost 2 years before moving to another, even if you've already proven your worth with financial return on your projects.

Close to home. Good pay. Reasonable hours at corporate if you have a family.

Old fashion thinking and fear has controls and is inhibiting innovation.
