Pros

It's mostly relaxed, customers are usually great, and co workers in my store are willing to help out when called on. Most days I can look forward to going to work.

Cons

Pay is low. Base pay is barely above minimum wage and commission is laughable. Management is constantly on our backs to "prospect" customers and try to get them to come in to buy. They don't understand that you can't force people to shop, and calling them once a week drives them away and loses business. Stop focusing on prospecting and focus on the customer that is in front of you.

Pros

Independent work....someone is not looking over your shoulder all the time. Somewhat flexible schedule except during the holiday season. Co-workers especially mature workers are dependable and pull their own weight.

Cons

Unresponsive management; low pay; not allowed to sit, drink water, etc., at work station; managers always agree with customer and will discipline employee in front of everyone; no consideration for family life or health of employee; new hires, younger employees get away with murder; management takes advantage of mature, experienced employees and overburdens them; lousy raises and worthless rewards and incentives.
