Terrible, do NOT work here

Pros

job stability, 100% remote (if you're into that)

Cons

ageism, glass ceiling, zero diversity, low comp. Zero guidance or training. You can work 100 hrs per week to go above and beyond for the team, management will look the other way but will pat on the back the clique who texted or took vacations whole time. You send in a polite resignation and your manager calls up hr so they will inflict a 30 day resignation hold on you, totally at manager discretion. HR will not release you to your new employer for 30 days, so management makes sure you will choke without pay and employment for 1 month after you leave. All this applies to equity research too, mass exodus of employees there thanks to godawful management by the heads.

Pros

Beautiful office in Center City Friendly coworkers Not much else

Cons

I have never seen such high turnover in my career, but it is easily explained given that Janney doesn't conduct exit interviews. Nor do they invest in performance reviews (you will never be given the chance to give feedback on your manager.) So the same position will turnover 3 times in fewer than 18 months. Managers/VP's become managers only because they are the only people not saavy or qualified enough to leave, not because they are good managers. Systems are poor, data management is archaic (I have spreadsheets that were 750k rows (and I was not in data analytics!) Processes are extremely manual, you focus less on analysis and more on data extraction and manipulation (again, I didn't work on IT or Operations.) Leadership is truly pathetic at the Manager and VP levels, I had better managers working at a diner and Starbucks. Men leave jobs in Wealth Management , and women are hired into them at half the pay. Entire departments quit at the same time, leaving management desperate and scrambling, thus perpetuating the same cycle. You will be miserable if you work here, don't do it. Benefits are extremely expensive, I basically paid for all of my own healthcare because my deductible was $1,500, and I had the most expensive plan. Sick days are limited to 7 PTO days, though you'll still have to do most of your work here upon you return.

Just beware

Pros

Privately held and small company which makes face time and building relationships with branch staff and senior management easy.

Cons

The turnover in the last year and a half has left this firm’s support staff disgruntled. Branch staff is concerned and consistently ignored. Home office senior leadership only cares about staying in the green for Penn mutual. The individuals that have taken over PCG in the last 12 months has ruined the vibrancy and dedication of home office PCG folks with Machiavellian leadership styles.
