Pros

Solid base pay and benefits. There was a great work life balance. The company and exec leadership was very open and transparent with their response to Covid. They handled the pandemic very well and kept giving weekly updates and maintained communication.

Cons

There is a lack of accountability amongst upper management and an inability to standardize processes. There is very much and us against them mentality at play between accounting and operations. While that is not the case for all of the operations leaders it is for a significant volume of ops leaders making it difficult to establish standard practices and even get buy-in and assistance from operations. The company is also growing through various acquisitions, which is great for the company, however the onboarding could be done better, there is no set Jensen Hughes way. So they may have purchased several companies over the year to integrate in, but each one has their own individual processes which is highly inefficient. As far as comp goes for the accounting the bonus pay was insulting. 4% bonus at the end of the year after being told all year "management has heard everyone's concerns about how low the bonuses were last year and is going to correct it for 2019" is misleading.

Thank you for your candid and constructive feedback. As an organization, we should all be working toward the same goals, so collaboration across all functional areas is imperative. We know this is not always the case and are always looking for ways to improve this. One of the ways we hope to “standardize” these expectations and move forward as one organization, rather than a collection of acquired companies, is through our new Purpose+Principles. There will be many outcomes as a result of this new collective mindset that we hope will solve the challenges you’ve identified to make JH a great place to work.

Pros

Variety of projects, variety of industries Good balance of field/office work (although that depends on what type of field you focus in). Tuition/professional development reimbursement Experts in the fire industry with lots of engineers to learn from

Cons

Despite receiving positive reviews, raises have been low, averaging 3% a year. Bonus is approx 2-3%. This is pushing me to consider other employers.

Pros

As someone else said on here, I will leave the pros to the upper management reviews.

Cons

Very difficult to get a raise even if you are meeting all of your goals. Bonuses are little to none. I want to note that a bonus is in fact something extra and not guaranteed but when a company creates goals that appear to be pulled out of thin air and not based on previous years then it seems to be impossible to get a decent bonuses not matter how hard everyone works. Management appears to not care about what engineering staff thinks needs to change to make the company a more pleasurable experience. Jobs are continually going over budget since billing rates are so high that we need to underbid jobs to get them. Quarterly meetings are pointless as the Q and A section only answers "softball" questions while ignoring questions that are an attempt to have engineering staff actually have a discussion on how to fix JH. Benefits are poor. Since we are owned by a financial investment firm all that matters is profit. Company morale and performing quality technical work are not a true concern for upper management.

Although we are disappointed to hear your perspective, we appreciate you expressing your concerns. We’ve heard your frustrations around bonuses and are optimistic our newly-implemented incentive plan will provide more transparency to the process. If you are willing, we encourage you to reach out to your HRBP to further discuss, as they welcome the opportunity to hear more of your insight. Thank you for your long-term dedication to our team.
