Pros

CEO is toxic, work culture is toxic. Run, don’t walk.

Cons

The entire org is suffering. The platform malfunctions constantly, and you can get the same results using chat

Pros

Jobscan's product is great and it has a lot of potential for growth. It has improved greatly since I started years ago. While the benefit of remote work is a given, it has also provided competitive pay and benefits. In addition, it allows a degree of work flexibility that allows an employee to move around and not be confined to a desktop the whole day. The setting of clear and measurable OKRs in recent years has significantly helped teams set direction and pace, track outcomes, and hit targets. The people and teams I worked with are adept in what they do. Most are respectful, hard-working, and passionate about their work. In my team especially, we have championed teamwork, camaraderie, and continually strive to improve and be better. The CEO (also the Owner and Co-Founder) is hands-on and is passionate about giving power to jobseekers by building the best tools. Being a start-up, the company has pushed hard to get ahead of the competition which is why the CEO expects teams to meet or even exceed expected OKRs. My experience working with the CEO has been great. The CEO is reasonable, provides timely feedback, and is understanding. Also, one of the core qualities of the CEO that I admire and have emulated is the genuine concern for job seekers such as those who have been struggling and stressed out trying to land jobs.

Cons

The company lacks manpower. The company needs to hire more people to fill in the needed personnel per team.

Pros

Great combination of ownership, fulfilling work, and super smart people. The company is shifting its management style to give more ownership to its team members. We recently define our own OKRs/goals instead of management defining them for us. It's more of a collaborative process this time. Being a fully-remote company is hard to build connections with team members. But last June the company invited everyone to fly into Seattle on the company's dime for a week-long of festivities and workshops. They booked WeWork and we had fun events every night - dinners, Mariner's game, yacht party, bar-hopping. It was the best experience to bond with my coworkers. Seems like we're again planning for the next company retreat for this summer again. The company has a high bar for hiring so everyone here is super smart and motivated to help job seekers. There's zero politics - everyone is just focused on doing great work. Lots of room for growth. I heard the first marketing assistant grew from just an assistant to lead the entire marketing team in 2017. The recent senior engineer also became a lead for the entire engineering team. Everything is quite flexible here.

Cons

The company made a few mis-hires when it tried to grow faster in 2021. So it hired a few executives. But a company our size doesn't need "executives." One guy in particular was all talk and led the team into the wrong direction. He eventually got fired but a few people also left because of it. Which was probably a good thing.
