Dear Former Employee: We are stunned and disappointed by your allegations about our dedicated and highly-skilled nurses. Delivering safe patient care is always our top priority and the words you allege were spoken are not consistent with what we know of our employees or how we treat our patients. If what you allege occurred, it should have been immediately reported to your supervisor or manager. Such behavior and language would not be tolerated. John Muir Health provides an “Open Door” policy that offers various ways of openly communicating any concerns by speaking directly to your supervisor or manager, escalating your concerns to your executive leader, reaching out to a seasoned HR professional, or anonymously speaking to a qualified representative. We encourage all our employees to seek out any of the above options to further communicate and address concerns. If you have any additional information to share, please contact our Human Resources department so that we can work with nursing leaders to conduct an investigation into these allegations.

Pros

Good pay and self scheduling

Cons

You get far here if you know someone. They don't necessarily care about the well being of the nurse but moreso how to make the unit/hospital look better. They really need to get a union.

Dear Former Employee: Thank you for expressing your thoughts and concerns about working at John Muir Health. We welcome and encourage employee feedback and questions regarding our work environment. We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed some aspects of your job when you worked here. However, we are disappointed by your comment about not caring about the well-being of our nurses. We have established a culture that advocates for and offers resources to support the well-being of our nurses and all employees. This includes offering both BetterUp Care and BetterUp Coaching which are free to nurses. The BetterUp Care session with a counselor can focus on individual needs including work-life balance and resiliency. BetterUp Coaching with a coach focuses on professional growth, leadership and more. Then go to the Care for the Caregiver sentence. We also offer a Care for the Caregiver program to support employees who have been through a challenging work experience. In addition, we are engaged in ongoing efforts to strengthen the professional nursing practice at John Muir Health, including the recent redesign of our Professional Governance structure. For clinical nurses engaged in the council structure, there are leadership development opportunities. We also added a new council focused on Engagement and Recognition and interventions that support healthy work environments that are professional, inclusive, and meaningful to nurses. Our nurses are active participants in our resiliency work. Nurses also have access to professional development support and opportunities, including tuition reimbursement, funds for supporting professional growth opportunities, flexible scheduling to support learning opportunities, and transition in practice programs. These are just some of the many ways that we support our nurses. We also firmly stand by our “Open Door” policy and welcome the opportunity to speak with employees at all levels of the organization. John Muir Health encourages our employees to openly communicate concerns by speaking with their direct supervisor, reaching out to a seasoned HR professional or anonymously speaking to a qualified representative. Thank you again for providing your feedback and we wish you well in your nursing career.
