Dear Employee: Thank you for expressing your thoughts and concerns, and for giving 5 stars to John Muir Health as a place to work. John Muir Health welcomes and encourages employee feedback regarding senior leadership as well as the work environment and cafeteria. We respectfully disagree with your characterization that John Muir Health is becoming “woke”, “extreme left” and pushing a political agenda. On the contrary, we are prioritizing our belonging and equity work to make John Muir Health a place in which every employee, provider, patient and community member can feel like they belong. We believe our recent listening session on the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Center decision was evidence of our well-rounded and inclusive approach to creating safe spaces for the exchange of ideas, regardless of which side of the issue participants found themselves. We encourage you and all of our employees and providers to participate in future listening sessions, during which a wide range of opinions are shared in a respectful environment. The sessions have consistently been praised for their ability to widen perspectives and foster a greater understanding of complex issues. We appreciate your kind words about the quality of the cafeteria food. When culturally-themed dishes are provided on a certain day, our cafeterias continue to provide many other options, including hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, quesadillas or grilled cheese. We also have pizza, grab and go sandwiches, a full salad bar with a deli bar component, and the soup(s) of the day.
