      Good co-workers, but few promotional opportunities

      Pros

      JM hires a great group of people. There was a good deal of flexibility in my position, which is nice for working parents (but it totally depends on the supervisor as others are more the micromanager-type ). JM benefits are decent, especially the 401K and their matching abilities.

      Cons

      Limited promotional opportunities. Little recognition from managers. Employees are given only 2 weeks vacation when first hired and it doesn't get increased until they reach the 5 year mark. Beware of HR - they are horrible!!!!

      Pros

      There is a lot of growth potential here, but you have to fight hard for it. Employees are encouraged to learn all aspects of the business and get exposure to everything. Compensation and benefits are well thought out and generous. The recently renovated work space is inspirational.

      Cons

      If you have a degree in engineering, you can write your ticket at JM - an endless source of frustration for everyone else. In many ways, creativity and innovation a stifled by too much linear thinking. The company is a little old fashioned, but they're working on it. There is "old-guard" leadership at the director level throughout the company, so a lot of "that's how we've always done it" and demanding that up and comers "pay their dues" - totally detrimental to knowledge transfer.
