Good people in office leadership. Decent base salary for Portland.

Cons

Weak benefits. Small bonuses. Firm is very stingy with everything. It's a large firm, with all the focus on billable hours.

Better Then Iraq Deployment - In Some Ways

Pros

During K&L Gates tour I was not literally shot at. While some complained about the toilet paper it was about on par with what I used in Iraq. While on tour at K&L Gates it was a little more clear who was preparing to sneak up from behind me and stab me in the back. While on tour at K&L Gates it was easier to turn to alcohol after yet another bad day than it was when I was in Iraq.

Cons

While on tour at K&L Gates I was appreciated less than I was when I was in Iraq even when factoring in the insurgents. At K&L Gates the work environment was more stressful than what it was when I was running patrols in Iraq. At K&L Gates IT Management was even less proficient at tossing good money after bad than Congress was when I was in Iraq.

Pros

This is a pretty solid large law firm. The pay is competitive with the rest of the legal market.

Cons

If you are an associate, how good your work experience is is almost entirely dependent on who you work for. But, I guess that's probably true of any large organization. Also, you'll get worked to death, but that standard operating procedure for big firms.
