Pros

Working with students, working on a product I felt I could stand behind, mission-driven organization. Organization trying to make changes to improve profitability of core products.

Cons

Not a lot of transparency between groups, very difficult to get needed information from colleagues and even managers to complete projects. A lot of remote employees in different time zones, had many repetitive conference calls. I was laid off as part of a "surprise" reorganization that left many employees doubting the integrity of K12's leadership.

Pros

Working in pajamas, that's about it.

Cons

Never being able to shower to get out of pajamas. This place is a trainwreck. They reward the school contracts being signed and client services reps but treat the teachers like crap. There are no bonuses, no rewards, little to no raises and no reason to work hard but we do because teaching is our passion. Disappointing is the nicest word I can use. The workload is absolutely unreal and there is no compensation for it. Salary is $9-10k less than surrounding districts and they pay 12 months, not 10. It's about $17/hr for those trying to do the math. That's only $2 more than handing out food at a fast food restaurant and far less accountability. I wouldn't recommend that anyone work here.

Pros

A job is about it.

Cons

Upper management does not listen to staff or care. Work is completely inequitable and management, with the exception of a few, are inept at managing their staff (head in the sand situation?) Lousy benefits and merit increases. Unrealistic work/life balance. If looking look elsewhere.
