      Supportive working environment for BCBAs

      Pros

      School schedule with summers off, never pulled in to substitute teach when staff call off, supportive principal, great collaboration with related service providers, good work/life balance

      Cons

      Needs of caseload can feel heavy at times, parent involvement is a hit or miss, not a con but some students have high level behavioral needs - physical aggression, self-injurious behaviors, property destruction, etc.

      Pros

      I am learning so much about how to be a good teacher, with in the classroom experience, but without the pressure of being the only teacher in the room. I will come out of this way more prepared to be a first year teacher than I would have without this residency.

      Cons

      I do work at home all the time. There’s no work-life balance. There are realistically only 2 planning periods per week that I can get lesson internalization and prep done, and the other 3 days we are in meetings. Tuesdays and Thursdays you’re there til 5, Wednesdays you have the CTR class in the evening. You really are just working all the time.
