Pros

- Focused on getting students into college. - Has high expectations for all staff. - Students are able to get more time in the classroom which helps them catch up.

Cons

- My region focuses on culture, and not academics. They do not incorporate rigor into the classroom, and only push students to do the bare minimum to pass the state test. - Teaches students to learn things at a very low level of understanding. Teaches through tricks, songs, and chants rather than actually pushing the students to understand the content. - Very cult like. If you aren't on the inside of the cult, they could care less about you, and will try to push you out. - Discipline is very inconsistent. - Hours are too long, you spend too much time babysitting rather than teaching. - Has relatively high scores on standardized tests, but also has the students for 3 extra hours a day. The scores should be higher.

Pros

-Great work is being done by the teachers to improve student achievement. -Teachers support and help each other improve through KIPP share, feedback and coaching.

Cons

-Poor leadership that hurts their mission (at some, not all schools). -Best practices are not highlighted and distributed among teachers. -Culture that (sometimes) rewards loyalty over ability. -Teachers/School Leaders who are incompetent are allowed to stay instead of being removed.

Pros

Rewarding working with students and seeing their growth and potential develop over time. It's satisying working with students, but I can't really say that about their manage, ent

Cons

There is very little work-life balance during the school year; therefore, they need to do a better job promoting it. Leadership is also sub-par and inexperienced.
