A Tough Time to Be at KLAS

Pros

There are a lot of talented, hardworking people at the company who care about what they do and about each other.

Cons

The company recently went through a major reorganization that was necessary to address inefficiencies and support future growth. However, the execution has been difficult. Many employees have taken on new or expanded responsibilities with limited guidance or training. At the same time, work from eliminated roles has been redistributed, which has created capacity challenges for remaining teams. Communication during this period has been limited, and it can sometimes feel like expectations haven’t fully adjusted to reflect the current workload and transition. As a result, stress levels are high and morale has been impacted. Additionally, there is uncertainty around the longer-term direction following the reorganization. While there is high-level discussion about evolving the company’s approach, it is not always clear how this will translate into concrete plans, priorities, or new offerings. Without more clarity and bandwidth, it can be difficult for teams to focus on both day-to-day responsibilities and longer-term innovation.

Pros

Found some amazing friends who will last past the walls of KLAS

Cons

The last few months at KLAS have been extremely challenging due to organizational changes. The announcement of a layoff in November, which ultimately occurred at the end of February, created significant stress across all teams. There was noticeable tension in the office knowing meetings where taking place and you could see them taking place, and many employees were hesitant to come into the office as it brought great anxiety. It was clear that these changes were on everyone's minds, even if people tried to act as though nothing was happening. The environment during this period was understandably difficult, and it had a strong impact on team morale. A number of people left prior to the layoff as they didn't know or understand what was happening next. From my understanding people do not fully understand

Pros

The office is nice and conveniently located

Cons

It really is too bad. I’ve worked at KLAS a long time and there have been plenty of opportunities to turn it around. Adam is completely disinterested in running the business and lacks all qualifying skill to run it even if he did. KLAS suffers like any organization without a leader. It’s indecisive and unable to commit to any direction. This leads to an endless list of partially finished projects, and could’a, should’a, would’as. But don’t worry, when things stall and stutter because of no direction or the complete void of strategy, he’ll be there to berate you for your apparent inability to read his mind. The rest of the org mirrors Adam. Everyone acts very ‘nice’, clapping along with the party line in All-hands, while ignoring the true underlying problems facing the business. It is shocking that KLAS is still afloat. Massive credit to the strong brand Kent built, but even the strongest brands will fall with long enough gross incompetence. At this point it seems like it’s just a matter of time.
