Cinderella Story..until the clock struck midnight

Pros

In the beginning when I 1st started in May of 2011 I thought I found the company I would retire with. The time and effort they put into training materials and training was amazing. They really knew how to make a person feel valued. The discount was good and the product was great.

Cons

Slowly but surely the company started cutting costs, and demanding more and caring less. They constantly spoke about promoting internally but then didn't even tell internal candidates about positions that opened up and constantly turned down even interviewing internally for outside candidates. Then my DM got promoted and literally became a person I couldn't even recognize she was rude and had broken so many promises of promotion and movement to so many people and outright denied ever saying them when as a group we had been informed of these promises to motivate us. The new DM was the most unprofessional and harassing manager I have ever worked for. She would call you when you were off and demand you go in. She would scream at people and publicly humiliate them on conference calls. Numerous people made complaints and nothing was done about it. Actual lawsuits have even been brought against other DM's and Area Managers in the company and even then the company didn't do anything! This company has lost so many people due to poor hiring choices in upper management in both full price and outlet markets it is unbelievable. The worst part is that so many of us had given so much hard work and dedication to this company and when we were alerting the company of the red flags we were thanked by being out right ignored and or pushed out of the company. The product and the image they portray might be bright and sunny but working there towards the end was anything but.

Pros

Employee Discount Program Health Benefits not too much that I can say are Pro's at this point & I am a store manager supposed to be able to say nothing but the best.

Cons

Senior Level management is the worst. they say that they promote from within yet don't even ask or notify current employees of new open positions, rather hire GM's over SM's and basically demote those who have done the most for the company. the DM's promote insubordinate behavior between an ASM and SM due to the very cliquish culture. Always harping on conversions yet have a 20% goal when all other retailers are at 15% or less and senior management are always complaining when they are not the ones that have to be on the front lines.

Pros

discount, other employees are amazing

Cons

expectations are super high for a minimum wage job. I have a lot of experience and worked there for many years and was still being paid minimum wage. expected to keep up your ks wardrobe "current" and were highly discouraged from wearing anything that was from a previous ks collection.
