Pros

Remote work environment was nice, there was no micromanagement.

Cons

Flippant culture of compliance, if an advisor complains often enough or has a big enough book of business, the rules are often bent for them. It was made clear to me that they would be using AI and exploring AI tools to reduce headcount. HR was less than useless. Was never explained benefits, the HR representative bailed on that meeting. Requested an exit interview, the HR representative never showed up to that meeting. Pay was low for the level and if you're a remote employee, its made very clear you will not be able to advance your career. Expect a peanut butter raise and 3s across the board. Negotiate your salary from the beginning or you're boned. PTO policy is very meh, at the beginning you'll earn 12 hours a month which ends up being about 18 days a year for both PTO and sick.

Toxic and Highly Micromanaged Workplace

Pros

Some employees may appreciate the structure of a traditional office environment and clear expectations around work hours. The company has had past business successes and operates in an established industry.

Cons

This review reflects my personal experience working at the company. The role is described as “hybrid,” but in practice employees are expected to be in the office almost every day, typically with only Friday allowed as a work-from-home day. Flexibility around that day is discouraged, which can make the hybrid label feel misleading. The workplace culture feels extremely rigid and heavily monitored. There are cameras throughout the office and software used to track employee productivity. Employees are expected to remain consistently active at their computers throughout the day, and even small gaps in tracked activity may require explanation. This level of monitoring can create pressure and make it difficult to focus on meaningful work rather than simply maintaining constant activity. From my experience, the management approach within the technology organization could benefit from improvement. Communication can feel confrontational rather than constructive, and feedback is sometimes delivered in ways that feel more like criticism than professional coaching. The environment can feel more adversarial than collaborative. There have also been discussions about moving technology roles to other locations such as Arizona and India, which may create uncertainty for employees currently based in the Austin area. This may result in remaining employees needing to take on additional responsibilities.

Pros

- 12hrs PTO a month for hourly employees - Ample opportunity for overtime - Comfortable and respectful culture - Recurring events and holiday-themed activities - Leaders readily available - Ample amenities (on-site gym. snacks & coffee, cubicles and Austin office are nice)

Cons

- Required in-office 4 out of 5 days a week; Friday is the ONLY work-from-home day for most departments - Lack of communication between departments and leaders - HR often miscommunicates or offers contradicting info - Can't move or get promoted for at least 1 year MINIMUM (they are pretty strict about this rule) - Unclear expectations communicated for metrics and pay - Account Services dept pay is low for Austin TX living expenses - Training is all over the place. Spent my first 2 weeks doing nothing.
