Pros

There are many assets across the country with a lot of opportunities.

Cons

The company is bleeding experienced employees and doing nothing to retain talent. So many positions have resigned and management drags their feet on backfilling relying on existing employees to pick up the slack which just compounds the problem of people leaving. Also, the accounting system was terribly out of date a decade ago and is a nightmare of useless time spent dealing with it.

Pros

There were no pros at this location.

Cons

I worked at the Charleston Shipyard River Terminal South and it was the worst employment experience I have ever had, that terminal is a cancer. The management was the absolute worst I have ever seen. From pure laziness to having absolutely no clue how to manage people or day to day operations. They will throw anyone under the bus in a heartbeat to make themselves look good. All the employees hated each other and refused to work together and help each other out. That terminal is a disaster waiting to happen. Save yourself the misery and go work at any other terminal in the surrounding area. You will make more money and won't be worked into the ground for minimal pay.

Pros

Decent Pay, the bottom rungs of the workforce is friendly and knowledgeable.

Cons

Where to start.... runs so slim that spreadsheets are still used for many tasks that have much better and efficient options out there. Actually had to purchase own or scrounge for office supplies. Bureaucracy runs so rampant that it seems that the company would step over a dollar to pick up a dime if it shows a profit to shareholders. Management culture when dealing with employees is to default to not trusting employees. Employees are responsible for travel expenses with a reimbursement from the company after completing an arduous and lengthy expense report. Replacement computers take weeks even if they are almost unusable and old (over 8 years old in my case.) Work/life balance can be an issue for some employees. Training is not a priority, it has been stated "we hire experience" by a member of upper management in reference to training. Company is not an industry leader in anything that isn't compliance driven like some of the companies that they acquired (don't go above and beyond what is required of them, yet they expect their employees to). Poor morale across numerous departments.
