Pros
Possibilities for great learning for new nurses, pay is ok, it's a job when there are not too many available, at least 3 nurses (2 cart/floor 1 desk) on the sub-acute most days/evenings (2 11-7).
Cons
Very unprofessional all around. Learning would be great if they actually taught, self teaching as a new grad is NOT a good idea. Many nurses who have worked there for a long time are downright mean-they will rush your narcotic count, give you sub-par report-not safe for the nurse or patient. Some nurses will help and answer questions others not so much. Going to work feeling dread at how you will be treated by the staff is awful. CNA's are either great or awful, no in between. Nurse to patient ratio is awful 1 nurse for 22-26 patients. Non-stop work too much to do and not enough time to do it properly. There are some awesome employees but too many awful ones to balance it out.
