Pros

You do learn a lot, quickly! You have a lot of responsibility and it's basically sink or swim! Good way to learn time management

Cons

Frequently under staffed. Never get out close to being on time. Salary is low for the amount of work you do.

Pros

top leadership believes in quality of care, great benefits, the message at the top is so positive and encouraging it makes you want to work there. I am afforded a generous budget for supplies and labor which allows me to do an excellent job taking care of sick elderly patients

Cons

middle management that demeans you, they have a terrible way of motivating leaders at the facility level and make you feel it is all about the numbers, not supportive at all, in fact they have been downright threatening and abusive at times on conference calls and facility leaders have felt demoralized and had no means of recourse. The Compliance line is great for line staff to call and tell a bunch of lies, but leaders who have real issues are afraid to use it for fear of retribution. Another issue is the mentality of my work force...too many feel that we are privileged to have them work for us, instead of them feeling privileged to have a job. So many of them are not in this profession for the right reasons, the amount of game playing is ridiculous,

Pros

Competitive Pay. Large company with many support systems. Though they are a for-profit company, we always get what we need to take care of patients. Promote from within. Many educational resources. They invest in their physical plants. Minority senior management. Healthcare is a tough business to make a profit in. Any issues that occur at Kindred are industry problems and occur at all large companies.

Cons

Not managed by patient acuity. No consideraion given for individuality of centers. The same policies and deadlines apply whether you have 300 patients or 50. Employees often feel overworked. Documentation outdated-still charting by paper.
