Pros

Great co workers, good support from most in store managers.

Cons

I have been in retail for many years and this is by far the worst place I have ever worked. Corporate support is non existent. Payroll, payroll, payroll. The store is horribly understaffed and a mess. Leave any OCD tendencies you have at home and be prepared to feel like you have failed everyday Customer service is horrible because there are no employees on the floor. No matter what you are scheduled to do you will end up at POS or customer service. Because customer service is so bad customers are often angry ad rude, and they have good reason to be. Advertised sale items are commonly not available in the store and the on line price for the same item is commonly higher than the in store price. Kohl's does not do in store price matching for their on line prices, absurd. It makes customers very angry. And last but certainly not least the pay is an insult. It is far lower to start than almost any other major retailer. No matter how good an employee you are or how bad your yearly raise will only be 2% or lower.

Pros

Love the people I worked with, and i got plenty of hours. The kohls cares program is pretty cool. .

Cons

Management would sometimes threaten employees who didn't meet credit goals. They only had part time positions for POS associates. It not long time kinda of job.

Pros

Fast-paced working environment. Decent physical workout from day-to-day tasks. Opportunities to learn other departments. Lift-truck and forklift training. Health/Dental/Vision benefit prices of a large corporation. Flexible full-time hours (not always 40/week). Paid vacation, on-site nurse and legal advice. Paid breaks.

Cons

Reactive management, not proactive. Clique-ish management (and workers) that picks favorites. Passively punishes employees that press for changes. Inadequate HVAC, so working in trailers during cold/hot days can be brutal. Little accountability on workers (people that don't meet performance requirements are kept around due to tenure). Slow seasons are scheduled in such a way that they give the minimum amount of hours required to prevent claiming partial unemployment. Wage caps on entry-level jobs regardless of tenure. Annual raises are minuscule after probationary period. No performance bonuses; "points" system used to redeem extra PTO or overpriced items compared to extra pay.
