Pros

+ Days that are busy fly by super fast. + You get to dress nice for a 9.75/h job?

Cons

- Constantly have to sell credit cards to customers. - Hostile environment from management to employees - Having 1 bad day in credit card sales costs you hours - The entire environment and hostility I got for not keeping up being #1 credit seller was exhausting. - Worst experience I have ever had with a manager - don't regret leaving one bit

Pros

All associates get 15% off of everything, and if you have a Kohl's charge the discounts adds on. I was lucky enough to work with nice coworkers and managers.

Cons

Some stores have closed, putting more pressure and volume on the nearby stores. Corporate is putting more inventory than ever in the stores, but not enough associates to handle all the inventory. That is why kohl's stores look like crap. They used to be like Macy's but looks like they are turning into a Walmart. As a Misses Supervisor I only had time for fitting rooms because I also had to be a cashier and help multiple customers. I was supposed to set the floor but also while I do fitting rooms, registers and helping customers. I worked in a big Kohl's store and most of the time is was just 10 to 12 people working when it used to be 20 or more. Also its gross people can return anything like underwear. Again the reason Kohl's stores are the way they are is because of corporate. Like when my store looked like crap and was under performing, they gave hours to other employees from other stores to fix the floor while cutting our hours. If they gave us more hours in the first place it would have never gotten that bad. Again Corporate NOT Management. I really feel for the managers. They are driving all the good people away.

Pros

You will gain great leadership skills and will learn a lot. Corporate makes an active effort to provide managers and associates with on-going training. If this is your first management job right out of college, and you make it through the first 6 months - a year without throwing in the towel, you will learn how to truly manage a large team and speak to results. Every job after this one will seem like a piece of cake in comparison.

Cons

Company expects you to work magic with extremely limited resources and unrealistic timeframes. You will be told that you should spend the majority of your time leading, but will only be given 20 hours worth of funding for a project that requires 60 hours of labor. Many managers end up working crazy amounts of hours to complete projects themselves in an attempt to meet corporate's routinely unrealistic expectations. Also, it is difficult to foster employee engagement when the company keeps changing work processes in a effort to find the most cost efficient. The result: associates end up ignoring new operational procedures in favor of what has worked for them in the past since the "policy will change in a couple of months anyway".
