Pros

The Kroger Co. values offers good benefits, the opportunity to advance. They have many training opportunities. They also provide retirement benefits.

Cons

They have a 3 tier hiring practice that is unfair. Poor holiday pay and don't offer the same level of benefits to all employees. They expect total loyalty but don't respect employees with the same level of loyalty from the company. Poor pay raises.

Pros

They hired me fast. They can be flexible. Work life balance

Cons

When I never know what my schedule is work/life balance doesn't matter as much because I can't plan anything. Management gets word from corporate and immediately swoops in and tells the people on the floor what to do even if it makes no sense at all. The people on the floor actually know how to do their jobs and to do it most effectively. Everytime management shows up they tell you how to do your job and act like you're incompetent. They train you halfway on something and you find out they didn't even get trained on it but are acting like they know what they're doing and then when they train you halfway on something and it's not done right suddenly you're at fault, not them. Don't know how to work with disabled employees. (Not me but a co-worker) Everyone acts like they know what policy is but they're constantly contradicting each other. The wall schedule is law. The wall schedule is almost always posted like a day or two max before the next week even though most people don't have a set regular schedule. How the heck am I supposed to know when to come in when the schedule is never posted or sometimes even posted a few days into the week. But I can't use the computer schedule because the wall schedule is law. Well post the freaking wall schedule and actually schedule things out at the very least a freaking week in advance.

Pros

Definitely will give you experience

Cons

Horrible management, horrible union, horrible management and employee attitude towards other employees and customers mainly employees does not work with your personal schedule they decided it would be nice to schedule me during my graduation which I requested off. Will require employees to return early off of medical leave otherwise they will fire you or at least they threaten it the managers will also seek you out and try and find any reason to fire an employee if they are given even the slightest bit of attitude, and they are horrible about understanding personal emergencies that may require people to work less or more and will give you as little hours as they can if you look at them the wrong way and even if they know that if you don't make enough you won't have a place to live and they have an emergency assistance program that requires you to be there for a year and a half however you never know when an emergency is going to happen you cant plan them so if your there for even a year your out of luck. And if there is any employee issue your also out of luck they will fire people for looking at them the wrong way but not if someone throws a 300 dollar piece of equipment at someone's head and thankfully misses because it wasn't thrown at their head because it hit the wall and missed their head
