Pros

Very fast paced work environment that stressed allot of people out. In the recent years, the place have mellowed out.

Cons

Own by Japanese. Engineering got canned, even for the groups that were doing super jobs. I don't think they ever really figured out what was valuable in what they had.

Pros

Health, dental, some vision and 401k

Cons

Unfortunately the lack of knowledge of those in management and in control of projects is severe leading it to push out any and all talent it may have. There is no standard held, there is very few american citizens, even few women. Very high incidence of discriminations of gender and race. Majority of management is male with cultural attitudes that reflect in the management styles. Employee are not held to be of importance but instead expected to be used with little input and expect employees to be honored to work for them. They require all employees to sit and listen to a founders spiritual philosophy but do not enforce their own actions accordingly. They do use the Philosophy hand books, one pocket version like the bible. It is said to be grounds to be fired if employees do not attend video sessions of guru sharing a passage in his book.

Pros

It was in a good location in La Jolla. The parking is ample, the work is alright, and you have relatively good control of how you want to spend your time as you are not micromanaged.

Cons

The people aren't that freindly. The morale here is pretty low for the most part as there have been multiple layoffs recently. The turnover is fairly high as people will always seek better paying jobs and move. Not to mention Kyocera phones?? Talk about bottom tier in the phone industry. Their focus is more on cheap price and with that, comes low innovation and a cheap product. Japan rules in decision making, so if you are working in America, you have no voice, just follow what our brethens in Japan say or you will get the boot.
