Pros

Employee discount, free gym, great co-workers, bonus program.

Cons

Managers are incompetent, lack people skills, and think harsh, unconstructive criticism is "good feedback". Management style is to bully and intimidate, focusing on negatives. Nothing is confidential. Employee expectations are unrealistic and work life balance is non-existent. Toxic, unhealthy, stressful, culture. L.L. Bean isn't what it portrays itself to be in the media.

Pros

The people and it is a great resume builder. Often flexible working hours as well.

Cons

Archaic systems and practices. One thing that has been very difficult to digest is watching the existing employee base not receive a bonus for 2017 due to poor company performance, on top of the involuntary separations. The kicker was that the leader in charge of the stores got to travel with his entourage to every store in the company and effectively get hailed as royalty while many long time employees who also chose to retire were barely given any recognition. There truly was no reason for his travels, other than he wanted to. Each trip included gifts, food, and who knows what else. It is sad that the company allowed it to happen. No doubt, he is a great man who did a lot of amazing things for the company. It just felt like a lot of wasted dollars. The benefits are not great, coverage is mediocre. It always feels like a jab after visiting the doctor due to high deductibles that are unlikely to be met by many people. Workspaces are dingy, depressing and falling apart.
