Pros
The people at L.L.Bean are its best resource, especially in Management roles and below. Managers and customer facing employees are the soul of the company. Retail and Customer Service are given impressive leeway to make sure that customers have positive experiences. The health benefits are generally good, but have been watered down and driven towards high deductible plans in recent years, as they have with many companies.
Cons
L.L.Bean upper management used to palpably care about its employees, but that has changed over the last 10 years. Appreciation for employee loyalty and the quality of deliverables have been replaced by a focus on day-to-day results and cost efficiencies. "We're all in this together" has given way to "do more with less, and do it faster". It's sad for a company with such an impressive history of employee support and quality.
