In the past, a fantastic place to work

Pros

Employee discount. Free use of camping gear. Wilderness days. Standard benefits, though the costs are always being shifted to the employee. Business remains somewhat above average, so job security is OK.

Cons

All companies get growing pains, but Beans continues to suffer. What was once a very "friendly" company to work at, is now just an average-or-below place to work. Granted, there are not a lot of options in Maine. Many great and talented people in IT have left LL Bean for other positions, even in the tight economy. Morale is low. Hard to believe that we once were a "Best place to work" winner. I hope that it turns around. It would be nice to see smiling employees again.
