Pros

Good benefits, company is obviously growing and there is no threat that it will move out of state or be sold -

Cons

Some departments are very cliquey ... the Merchandising department for example feels more like junior high school than a professional, corporate environment. People are quickly labeled by senior management and that label is widely known and is almost impossible to change. It's a tough culture in which to acclimate. Those that stay for many years speak of 'keeping their heads down' as a key to their success. Don't make any waves or propose any changes -

Pros

Good discounts for expensive products

Cons

No room for advancement, they keep people who are inferior and management is inept and indifferent, this as result, leads to low moral and unhappy workers. LL Bean claims they are a progressive corporation, this however, is not true and the reality is quite the opposite.

Pros

The best reason to work at L.L. Bean is because of the other employees and the Maine lifestyle. The benefits are great for region, but Maine is a fairly poor state, albeit beautiful, so nationwide and compared to other large corporations, the benefits are comparable, not superior.

Cons

Salaries tend to be much lower than at other comparable companies, I found most people are not happy there and if there was any competition for jobs in the area, most would make the move. Under the guise of empowering its employees, the upper management either knowingly or not, have created an environment where their employees have much responsibility but little authority. An extremely stressful position to be in.
