Pros

I get to be part of the biggest defense industry merger in history between Harris and L3 Technologies! As a legacy Harris employee, this company has only grown in my 3+ years here. The work is challenging and exciting and the opportunities for growth are abundant. I feel completely secure in my career trajectory here and get to work with some of the best and brightest in the industry. Not only that, but the products L3Harris makes support our military and space critical missions which is not only cool, but very close to my heart. We keep people safe and allow those who serve the ability to defend this country with some leading edge technology! The company itself is in growth mode and I believe it will continue to with the merger. Benefits are good - very competitive with the industry. The discretionary vacation policy is great - no set bank of hours, just up to your manager. The area is great as well - great schools and living on the beach (can't beat it!)

Pros

- 4 Weeks of PTO - Generally interesting work (when its there)

Cons

- Company just completely removed Hybrid and is forcing all employees back into the office. - Layoffs have occurred 4+ times in the past 2 years. This was unheard of and hadn't happened since 2008 when I started 5 years ago. - Work load is VERY up and down. Its feast or famine currently. When I started 5 years ago there was always consistent work on multiple programs. Now its one program or nothing and you are constantly stressed about what to work on next. This also creates more stress when layoffs continue to regularly occur. - 3% (maximum) yearly "merit" raises which don't account for inflation. Execs have been boasting about cost savings and YOY profit growth, but they don't share that success with the employees. - Constant turnover of upper management. This leads to inconsistent policies and visions that are constantly changing. - Lack of new opportunities. I've been asking for nearly 3 years for different opportunities in other groups, even a short-term loan opportunity to grow as an engineer. Every time it has been blown off.

Pros

Flexible schedule 4 weeks vacation Flexible sick time Overall good benefits (minus the cost of health insurance)Focus on Diversity and Inclusion has increased in the last 2 years The company's Employee Resource Groups are ihighly involved.

Cons

Retired military leaders make a "good 'ole boys club," a political fraternity in corporate decision-making. Merit increases (raises) in 2022 do not keep up with inflation and are not an accurate representation of performance; i.e. "you get what you get." Sign-on bonuses and higher salaries are offered to new employees with little being done to retain those with 3+ years experience. There is a company-wide focus on the "bottom line," with pressure compounding down to the individual employees. With limited "merit" increases, employees are required to work even harder, often on overtime in manufacturing and engineering, to keep up with corporate's goals. Bonuses for special projects and extra effort seem to be a thing from the past; these used to supplement employee salaries and encourage added efforts. New management lacks proper training and mentorship.
