Pros

Good pay (when I joined) for a graduate A lot of lovely, knowledgeable people You're always guaranteed to find at least one person who fancies a drink on a Friday Interesting work with some opportunities for cross team and civil service experience Work/life balance can be great depending on who you work for

Cons

Few promotion opportunities The money isn't amazing long term You're often feeling like a middle man with very little genuine power/responsibility as ultimately the Department of Health have the final say on most matters Some teams have better working conditions than others
