Pros

Flexible scheduling for moms in the field, competitive pay, excellent benefits, great coworkers. Autonomous work environment. It was a wonderful place to work and I left only because I moved.

Cons

Computer charting is time consuming,.Too many patients to be responsible for when on call. Insufficient annual pay increases.

It's all about billing Medicare.

Pros

The pay is fair and the benefits are better than smaller companies. If you make it in the sales department you are basically unable to fail. Theoretically.

Cons

Field staff overworked. In order to qualify for benefits they must meet unreasonable visit quotas. This is at the expense of quality patient care, but as long as the clinicians follow CYA protocols available in the EMR device, the outcomes still look good enough to pass. Like most Mega Companies communication is a huge issue. They have neat little online training modules and Webinars, however mid-management is highly skilled at muddying the waters. Office staff required to kick tasks back and forth. The EMR is great, but the customized settings eliminate any stream lined work flow. Too many attempts at reinventing the wheel. It's home healthcare. Every agency is required to develop QI around certain identifiers, track trends and make improvements. Not every agency scrubs OASIS specifically looking for ways to add other disciplines and has designated employees whose primary function is to call physicians all day getting additional services ordered though. Pretty much zero room for advancement. A good RN may get promoted to Team Leader but that's pretty much where it starts and stops. Theoretically.

Pros

You most likely won't get fired, great schedule if there are enough patients for you to work

Cons

Problems with the staff are rarely taken care of, reporting employees for poor work gets you nothing. It seems like the employees can get away with anything (poor patient care, errors, etc.) without reprimand. The pay is comparable to similar jobs, but there are no bonuses, no perks, and barely a raise to speak of. We get a plain t shirt and a party (where we provide the food) for Christmas every year. I've been there almost 4 years and I now make about $2 more than I started at following the company's annual raise schedule. The benefits are a joke. For just myself, I pay around $80/pay period for the lowest tier insurance. The home office is very helpful however, I have had issues and contacted the home office and they generally resolve the problems very quickly. I wish the integrity passed down to the local administration as well.
