Pros

At local level, they provide useful regulatory backbone to smaller independents who want to hang out their own brokerage shop shingle, and use LPL to clear trades and take care of regulatory matters.

Cons

ETF-centric mentality, and where they try to get tricky with alternative assets, they usually are high fee kick-backs to LPL and poor ultimate product choices. They claim independence and being unconflicted, but nothing makes it onto their platform without a fee retrocession to LPL. None of their own funds, per se, but lots of added model management fees in addition the wrap fees. Retail investors mostly still get suckered. Bull market shop that won't handle a real bear market well.

Pros

decent lead time before getting fired (usually 6-9 month termination process for under-performers, sometimes longer) unless your team team gets laid off, but that doesn’t happen much at all in the current environment. Stock price is on a good trajectory. More work thank you could ever ask for

Cons

Compensation is low and don’t expect to be rewarded for any impact or company performance, that’s only for MDs & Board. Weird requirements to join CEO & HR Town Halls where only topics are compensation complaints, but nothing material is ever done about it. Leadership at top struggles to hide inability to be impressed with workforce & the work product of workforce, but frankly he may have a point. Nothing ever done about it or the many other challenges you encounter here. Advice - master PowerPoint for your boss & you’ll be alright.
