Pros

+ excellent coworkers + free snacks, both healthy and not-as-healthy + free drinks: coffee, cold brew, tea, liquor, sodas, topo chico + fun social activities + good pay, bonuses and stock options

Cons

rewardStyle isn't a terrible place to work, but it's also not that great. 2018 hasn't been very kind to us. Somethings were beyond our control, like the Instagram API change. Other things were well within our control, though. - Stock valuation done before instagram changed their API, and it's very possible that our options are worth much less now. - Close to 20 employees have quit rewardStyle Engineering since the start of the year. More are rumored to be looking. - The atmosphere in Engineering feels heavy. I know it's a job, it doesn't have to be fun; but it was a fun place to work at one time. - Too many managers. For example, a team with 4 engineers will have an engineering manager, a product manager (or 2), and a program manager. Their bosses can easily get involved, so directors of product, and VPs of engineering. And an architect. So, 4 worker bees, and up to twice as many people offering opinions, asking for status updates, and generally just blocking progress. - Too many meetings. Really, wtf? - Too much agile. See above. Just stop it already. - Don't get me started on Kickoffs, Elaborations, and Analysis and Estimations. Most teams were delivering before any of that went into effect. Its just a way for people to justify their jobs. - Too much process. See the previous few points. - Too much process. Just want to say that again. So, my job seems worse after writing this review. I never sat down and organized my thoughts on work like this before. And there's a lot that I dislike and haven't added to this review.

Thank you for your feedback. rewardStyle recently updated their employee handbook to ensure our policies are current and continue to remain compliant with applicable laws (most companies will do this on an annual basis as a best practice). An additional company holiday was added to the handbook in 2019 as well as two PTO days to volunteer at the non-profit of your choice. Our Bereavement Leave was also expanded to include grandparents. Other updates include very standard policies around technology replacement and also reasonable suspicion. These policies should not be unreasonable as for example our devices are covered by apple care and also we trust our employees are not under the influence of drugs while working. Our policy around consensual relationships has also been updated as there have been so many headlines around harassment in the workplace and we would like to ensure our workplace is free from prohibited harassment. Also, we do not monitor time away from the office as all our employees are exempt. These are pretty standard policies and we don't feel anyone is being treated unfairly due to the handbook changes made. If you do feel you are being treated unfairly, however, we strongly encourage you to speak to a member of the People Team. Thank you, again, for taking the time to provide us with very valuable feedback.

Pros

The usual: free food, free beverages, summer hours, parties.

Cons

Micromanagement. HR people appear to be friends with management, and complaints don't go anywhere. Punishment culture. Bad technology causing influencers to flee.
