Cons
I thought working for rewardStyle was going to be my dream job. The phrase, “don’t judge a book by its cover,” needs to be updated for this generation. You can’t judge a company by their Instagram feed. The company’s technology is undeniably innovative, but proper credit is not given to those individuals and engineers who actually build it. rewardStyle is an extension of its founders and their egos. The foremost priority of the executive leadership team is to present a visually aesthetic brand to the public, investing in frivolous things like marble furniture to enhance their image on social media (rather than back into their employees via fair compensation or bonuses). Anyone with real experience or capabilities is eventually forced out in favor of fresh-faced interns who can be groomed to fit the "company culture.” Those who speak out or attempt to improve processes are written up or scared into submission. Documented cases of bias in hiring are overlooked or excused with the rationale that it’s important for people to fit into the culture. There are very little resources available for true professional development and a blatant lack of role models for young employees. rewardStyle is the ideal workplace for people who value things like a cold brew coffee keg, LIKEtoKNOW.it branded swag, and endless happy hours over diversity, mentorship, and ethical business practices.
