Pros

The people are friendly. The food downstairs is excellent.

Cons

Their schedules are too restrictive. Employees only get 8 minutes of personal time a day, including bathroom breaks. They record everything you do and give you a strict schedule you must adhere by. Using the bathroom works against your schedule and you go off adherence because of it. Most of the employees are temps who have little room for advancement, have no benefits, and are paid very little, but are stretched beyond their limits.

Pros

What Covance does is wonderful! It helps low income patients afford their medication at no cost. The medication can be hundreds of dollars a monthly and for a company to deliver it to them for free is absolutely amazing. It is really rewarding hearing from a patient that you are the reason they are able to live without struggling to pay for it. The location is great, there is free parking and plenty of restaurants and shops near by. There's Guapos which is great for happy hours, and Kabob House, great for carry out, which both are directly next door to the building. It is walking distance to the Rio, so there are also lots of shops you can go to if you have an hour break. There is also a beautiful huge lake where the building sits on; I see plenty of people walking around it for great exercise. If you don't plan on exercising, its a great view. There is also a fantastic fitness center, which is great to use after work when waiting out the heavy rush hour traffic. Covance has a joint gargage which is free parking!

Cons

The company is run by middle man management; corporate clearly has no idea how the Gaithersburg branch is being managed. The supervisors and trainers are of the lower class and have such a power trip. These are the best careers they can get in life and definitely demean others to stay on top. In a professional company, new employees would never be treated like this. The company is ran like a kindergarten class room.. what kind of job are you required to ask your supervisor for permission to go use the restroom... At Covance, you are required to email your supervisor informing them about your urgent need and wait for their response... Your schedules are produced by your supervisors indicating your 15 minute breaks and lunch breaks. Each individual will have different breaks then others, and will change on a daily basis. There is little room for moving up in the company, unless you kiss the asses of those who took your soul. Favoritism plays a big role here, so if you're not the chosen one, you can pack your things. For the position of Program Specialist, A college degree is far from needed. What is necessary is the ability to do a repetitive tasks over and over again. The ones who can be most successful in this position are those who rarely use their brains. Ability to do hours of repetition will make you a winner at Covance. To sum it all up, Covance may be a great and help the unfortunate people, however, being an employee here is as bad as being a factory worker, a typical dead end job.
