Pros

CVD is the best positioned company in the CRO industry and has done the best over the past few years, even during the tough economic times. Global presence is promising.

Cons

IT infrastructure is lacking, systems are old, work PCs are old, still using Windows 2003, Office 2003. Covance is ok with not promoting employees and many employees have had the same position for years upon years. This is now in the culture. Company with be quite different when these folks retire.

Pros

The only benefit LabCorp had that was great was the Clear card. If you worked there it's no way you want them handling your blood or your families.

Cons

Unprofessional management, crappy pay, crappy insurance, your treated like a child, SOP's that change every week, they care more about how many patients info you enter than if you get the info in correctly, no compassion if your sick, supervisors have a way of always finding faults but never encouraging the good you do, and they only promote the brown nosers.

Pros

Benefits were pretty good when I started.

Cons

I worked in the Pharmaceutical Analysis group at Covance in Madison, Wisconsin. There was a huge them versus us attitude by the departmental management/supervisor group against the non-managerial staff. Employees were essentially looked at as slave labor and treated accordingly. Not surprisingly, the departmental morale was low yet management could never understand why. In addition, management always blamed problems on non-managerial staff and never accepted responsibility for their own decisions or actions. Turnover was high and there was a strong CYA attitude. People were (for the most part) unwilling to help others or share their knowledge and experience because of that. There was plenty of backstabbing by people who did not like other people they perceived as being smarter or as a threat to their position. Data generated for the clients was slow to be reviewed (client reports were commonly very late) and work frequently had to be done again because so many errors were discovered. Several major clients dropped this group because of their shoddy work. Finally, executive management tended to deprive this particular group of resources because they did not bring in enough money for the company. Bottom line is stay away from the PA group at Covance if you are considering employment there.
