Occasionally, an individual might get to work on an up-to-date system to implement as part of a project.
Cons
There is a large glut of middle management which, in a lot of cases, consist of people promoted only because of who they know or are related to. Much of the senior management within IS in also incompetent when it comes to technology and are trying to run the department like it was back in the US Labs days when the company consisted of 250 employees. The mentality of the executive management is that IS is an expense and thus should be reduced in an ongoing fashion. This translates to layoffs or early retirement packages and no new staff to replace them.
