Pros

Great benefits but not great pay compared to the hours you work each week.

Cons

Lam research are selective to who the core values apply to. Core values only apply to non management level employees because they are an easier target. HR is a joke, they are useless when someone goes to them for help or advise . Also very bad internal communication

Pros

Lam offered me my first job in the US and a 14+ year career that has been challenging and extremely rewarding. As a female engineer and a foreigner, I feel privileged to be part of a company that has supported my professional growth, appreciated my contribution and fulfilled me beyond my expectations. This is a company made of people truly passionate and skilled, a company with a world class executive team, that matches the quality and integrity of every other level. There is no other way to perform and grow the way Lam Research has done so, if not for the extraordinary vision of the leadership team and the skilled and motivated workforce. There is no way to deliver, year after year, unprecedented results if there wasn't an environment of respect, trust, and teamwork. It has been an honor to be part of the company under the leadership that raised the bar during the past years, that inspired us to execute what seemed impossible, that made us believe in our collective power and that changed the lives of thousands of people through stock performance and profit sharing. I look forward to many more years at Lam, to the opportunities ahead and the fortune to work with and for, remarkable people.

Cons

Opportunity means hard work, high level or performance means hard work.. if you understand that, you will thrive at Lam

Pros

The job is a reasonable transition between grad school and industry. Solid health insurance options and generally good people working there. If your manager likes you, you can move up very quickly, but this isn't guaranteed

Cons

Your job happiness is going to depend largely on customer happiness and your relationship with that customer. If you are fortunate enough to have a US customer, your hours can be reasonable, but if not, good luck. There's a weird culture that emphasizes putting in hours, regardless of output. Coupled to the fact that many people are dependent on this job for their visas, the work culture can be unpleasant. In my time there, there were so many discussions of improving WLB through smarter experiments, automation, etc. I never saw any of this come to fruition, and as we all know, talk is cheap. Get some experience working with high tech equipment and if you aren't promoted in a year or 2, look elsewhere, ideally away from the OEM industry, because this isn't going to get easier. I saw people there for years who worked 12h per day and still didn't get promoted. Fortunately in the early stages of your career, a lot of these skills are translatable within the Bay Area.
