-Lots of bureaucracy and red tape for everything that needs to be done (but typical for big companies)
-Political competition was prevalent, and even a part of my job as an intern.
-Seemed like there were some jobs that were protected in my group...given how slow it moved, it's easy for people to hide who don't pull their weight.
-HR was nice enough to have me interview with other groups for full-time positions, but the hiring managers I dealt with were very political and did not take me seriously as an intern. Believe me: as a summer intern fresh from school, this stuff stays with me and gives me an impression of the company. It felt as if those managers did not value my time and energy to prepare to meet them.
-To rub it in worse: after my summer internship ended, I attended a Lam career fair a few weeks later, where they invited the public to their HQ. It was horribly inefficient (waited for 2-3 hours in line) and they told people to "apply online" afterward, basically wasting the time and energy of the hundreds and hundreds of people who went. Keep in mind this was when the economy wasn't great (2010). I'm sure Lam has changed since but that REALLY rubbed me the wrong way, and it was a big disaster by them.
