I read the reviews before taking a job here and they were bad. I chose to be optimistic because the commute was great for me. I figured there were bound to be bumps in the road because it was so new. Unfortunately, the bad reviews do not even begin to cover how awful this employer is. It went from bad to worse when they brought in a new CEO and nursing leadership. The senior nursing leaders are uneducated, grossly inept, and aggressive. There is no just culture and the environment is overtly punitive. They sit in their offices and watch the cameras looking for people to write up but never step foot on the floor. Most staff have never laid eyes on them unless they are being written up. Nurses are written up for not being able to take a break when they've been given such a ridiculously unmanageable work load that despite missing their breaks they are still stuck for hours after their shift trying to chart and then are written up for overtime. That got so bad that staff would just punch out but not take a break to prevent getting written up. The place is so understaffed that the supervisors and middle managers are always on the floor working an assignment but senior nursing leaders still fail to lift a finger to help. It’s as though they are afraid to come onto the units with the patients. Understandably, considering there is no security and they fill the floors with violent patients with no consideration of acuity, staffing mix or patient flow. The work is not rewarding because it’s impossible to provide good care. The human side of leadership is non-existent. The scheduling is a mess. It’s hard to provide good care when senior nursing leadership is unprofessional and serve only to instill fear. They do not value their nurses as individuals. The philosophy is a nurse is a nurse. There is no communication with staff. There are no staff meetings. If you have an issue, you won't get help from HR. There is rampant and overt favoritism. It’s appalling. There are many better employers with much more to offer. I have a longer commute now, but far better pay, benefits, and a great schedule. The leaders at my new employer are experienced, educated and respectful and they value nurses. I learned my lesson after working here. It does not pay to ignore an abundance of negative reviews in the name of optimism. I do not recommend this as an employer nor would I allow family or friends to receive care here.
