HR hands a tied to affect necessary changes; product SVP leads in chaos.
Pros
- Cross functional teams are passionate about what they do and in general, everyone is nice and a pleasure to work with. - Salary is not ultra competitive based on industry, but competitive based on average in Wisconsin. - Hybrid/ WFH model is great/ flexible, but would depend on your manager/ department. - Work/ life flexibility; you can generally leave early/ start late for doc appointments, kids pick up/ drop off etc. (Again this would depend a lot on your manager and team.) - HR team tries* to implement events to build a better culture and connectivity between employees, but their hands are tied based on budgets/ what they can do etc.
Cons
VP/ Exec management level needs to take a hard look at the expectations that the team (specifically product teams) are being asked to execute. - These leaders are asking for overdevelopment sometimes at a 3:1 ratio; creating double the workload and not recognizing that the same amount of people on these teams are being asked of this, when the ratio was closer to 1.5:1. There is a lack of understanding that they have doubled the workload without adding additional head counts. - SVP of product spins the product team consistently; last minute changes based on personal preferences, forgets decisions they made and approved in meetings and will try to place blame on team members if sales are not positive from that decision. - This SVP only considers those that agree with them to be "team players", if you push back too much, to them, you are not seen as a "team player". - This product leader cultivates a toxic work environment where team members are stressed and overworked. They also "lead by example" by engaging in highly vindictive behavior that cultivates a culture of blame." - I would not recommend working here if you will be on the product team until there is a leadership change at this level.
