Worst Place I've Ever Worked

Pros

They provide a lot of nice perks for employees including an on-site gym, music at lunch, farmers market, half-day Fridays in the summer, a great discount, and a lot of fun events.

Cons

Management on the Business Outfitters side is absolutely terrible. They set unrealistic expectations and give you no resources to meet them. I have never seen and experienced such disrespect from former and current members of the leadership team. They blatantly talk down to and scream at employees in front of others. IT is backed up by years. It's impossible to implement any new programs. Don't let the perks blind you - this place is awful.

Pros

They're willing to pay you well to get you on board. They do have a gym on site but its very outdated.

Cons

It's half people who have been there their entire life, along with their mom and siblings (not a joke), and half new people who have no idea how to slide into the old ways of this company. Technology is terrible/non-existent. Expect to work over lunch almost every day. Management has no idea what's happening in terms of the big picture and the new CEO changes direction everyday. They'll say anything to get you in the door. I'll be taking the first offer I get, for less money even, somewhere else as soon as I get one.

The worst company I have ever worked for.

Pros

There are still some quality people there, but not for long I suspect. The fitness center is awesome, in theory, since most never get a chance to actually use it.

Cons

Off the charts expectations in terms of hours (start at 80/week and go up) combined with outdated tools and limited resources (staffing). CEO and CFO cultivate a culture of distrust, fear, and intimidation. They fall back on "this is how retail works". They have completely obliterated the culture of Gary Comer interms of taking care of the customer and employees and everything else will be taken care of. The term "materiality" is absent from their vocabulary as EVERYTHING is material. For all those who are gushing about this company after being spun off from Sears, do some research on the new Board. They are all hand picked cronies of Eddie Lampert.
