Pros

My coworkers are like family to me. There is a strong sense of community within the college. If you can survive, you can thrive at LCC.

Cons

The strong sense of community can be a double-edged sword in that when the administration makes decisions that hurt their department or group of workers, it feels personal. As support staff, you will be expected to put in overtime, and will only be offered compensation some of the time. Having worked at the college for over six years, I can tell you that there is a lot of unprofessional conduct that goes on behind the scenes.

Many holiday vacations, PTO accumulates quickly, high amounts of sick time.

Cons

Biased management, would rather go after people who bring problems to their attention than the actual problematic areas of the college. Doesn't pay a livable wage.

Pros

Pay was great for admins. The hours are flexible. Benefits are great. There is a real desire to work together, but collaboration is limited due to culture.

Cons

Management is very cut throat and it affects the culture down to front line employees. I observed high level management from the Provost to front line employees in entry level roles and all individuals in between "disappear" over night. They were fired without explanation. The culture is very cut throat. There is a knife behind your back constantly as other employees, mid level managers, to high level leadership are all trying to survive the hunger games culture on the admin side of the college.
