Pros

Great colleagues, great opportunities to impact students' lives and the community. New, updated facilities are aesthetically pleasing.

Cons

Part-Time professionals have few opportunities to work year-around and almost no opportunities for advancement. Hourly wages might seem attractive, but it doesn't add up to much as a yearly salary. Almost everyone is on public assistance or several other part-time jobs. Part-Time and Full-Time staff can spend more than four years in a, "probationary", at-will status. If you apply for unemployment, the college is likely to fight you to the end, but they mostly lose. A lot of folks who work here are on food stamps. Middle-management lacks vision, most of them fear change and exist to preserve their positions. Management and administration are deaf to students and subordinates needs. If you want to leverage your experience here for a position elsewhere, you will have to be creative. There are few standard operating procedures that monitor your growth or progress. The Learning Commons is probably the worst place to work on campus, I wouldn't suggest working here until there is major turnover. A lot of people here are exceptional at their jobs but there are enough who aren't to make you want to pull your hair out.
