Never again, Lack of Structure and Management Issues

Pros

Remote work; 401k and ESOP; PTOs. Yearly meeting discussion is good way to strategies the plan of action.

Cons

Unclear expectations, lack of communication from management, and no clear path for career growth. Poor communication. No recognition for hard work, and leadership is disconnected from daily operations. Never again to this firm...Salary is not competitive. We cannot plan secure and consistent future with this firm. Unreliable with their career promises. They hire for short term goals and then you may be out of work suddenly. Unexpected change can ruin your career. This is a prime example of self-oriented firm.

Okay if starting out, but pursue other firms for job growth

Pros

-Trains new staff pretty well, few gaps from training to daily-tasks -Hires assortments of architecture degrees, accredited and unaccredited. For people who didn't have the scores to get into the NAAB schools, this is a great starting point! -If you don't like your immediate coworkers there is space in the company to move pretty easily. -Not salary based, so you are paid overtime. Can be a Con if you're seeking Salary. This is specific to the architecture field. -Benefit package is average to slightly above average. -Employee Owned company, You will be reminded of this very often.

Cons

-Overtime in the way of 50-60 hour workweeks pretty consistently for half of the year. -Slow to the point of laying-off the other half. You won't get canned if you were the one doing the 50-60 hour workweeks. -Literally hundreds of site-surveying out of hometown. Not family oriented, and doesn't compromise much here. -Paid under market rate, and you have to quit before they try to negotiate. Have spoken to several friends who also left and I can verify its undervaluing it's staff compared to the next similar-scaled firm. -Unpaid scope creep in so many ways. Technicians doing designer and project-manager jobs, then reprimanded when done poorly. -Has deleted benefit hours without paying out, against their own policy.

Old School not willing to adjust with climate.

Pros

The coworkers are the best. Large base of design opportunities and growing standardization.

Cons

Upper management wants to have all bodies in the office "pre-pandemic". This is not typically necessary when offices are spread out and non-managerial staff do not need to be in office to function. They promote equality but when it comes to disability, that is another story.
