Pros

A lot of the kids were sweet, and some coworkers were great.

Cons

Benefits look good in the ad, but then you realize it's 1200 a month to insure your whole family, they have no parental leave, all you can do is FMLA and short term disability. Teacher 'appreciation' weeks were almost comically bad (little Caesars in the staff room? Seriously?), and the principal only cares about funding and keeping parents happy regardless of their children's awful behavior and work ethic. Also, not sure why Leander is touted as being so good for SPED; literally didn't even have smart boards and I got like $10 per month in printing balance. Also had a kid that liked to drop his pants and pee wherever, including on people, and grab people's hands to try and put them on his privates, who was let to run free with all the other kids at recess. SA case waiting to happen. Honestly, parents should beware more than teachers. Ask about your school's "calming room"-- is an empty, cinderblock room that "bad" kids get put in alone to calm themselves down. Spoiler alert, they're kids incapable of self regulation. Also, I was told to work through the weekends by my principal and district supervisor, and was reprimanded for following doctor orders to stay home while pregnant.

Thank you for your feedback. We understand your concerns regarding teacher retention at each campus. We take these issues very seriously and are always looking for ways to improve the work environment for our educators and development campus leadership skills. We highly value our dedicated teachers and their contributions to student success and are sorry to hear that your experience in LISD was not a positive one. If you have specific feedback regarding your campus principal, please reach out to the Area Superintendents office or the HR Department.
